Lambert players, coach win DiVarsity honors
Four Lambert boys varsity players have been named 2019 soccer all-stars by DiVarsity sports. They have received invitations to play in the 21st annual Georgia DiVarsity Soccer All-Star games on May 19. The games will be played at Sprayberry High School, 2525 Sandy Plains Rd., Marietta.
The Longhorn All-Stars are goalkeeper Chris Smith, defender Jay Patterson, midfielder Campbell Wilson and forward Hayden Fontana. They have been invited to play in an all-star game at 5 p.m. on May 19. Lambert Head Coach Chris Wilson has also been named a coach for the all-star game. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!
DiVarsity also announced its Player of the Year and Coach of the Year awards for Class 7A. We are delighted to report that Longhorn forward Hayden Fontana won the Georgia Class 7A Player of the Year. Fontana, so far this season, has scored 25 goals and assisting on 10 more for his #1-ranked 'Horns,
Finally, DiVarsity has named Lambert head coach Chris Wilson the Georgia Class 7A Coach of the Year. In addition to leading his team to a 19-1-0 record this year, Wilson has created a culture and tradition of excellence in Longhorn soccer. During his ten seasons as boys' head coach, Wilson's teams have won one national championship, two state championships and six region championships. This is Wilson's third straight DiVarsity Coach of the Year Award. He has also won six region awards as coach of the year, AWESOME JOB, COACH!
The award winners will be honored between the two boys' all-star games on May 19 at Sprayberry High School. For Longhorn fans wishing to attend the festivities, tickets for the all-star games will be priced at $7 for adults and $5 for high school-aged students and younger. One ticket is good for admission for all four boys and girls games. The Lambert players have been invited to play in the 5 p.m. all-star game. For more information, go to:
