#1 Ranked Lambert Girls Ride Strong First Half Performance to Convincing 6-1 Win over Milton
The Lambert girls wasted no time putting their stamp on a pivotal match vs. the Milton Eagles; notching their first goal a mere 1:22 into the game, and then proceeding to score 4 more first half goals en route to a 5-0 halftime lead.
Maddie Haugen and Faith Ferrer were the focal point of the relentless Longhorn attack early as they combined for 4 goals (2 each) and removed all doubt as to the result before the game was 21:00 old.
An Aja Celka goal shortly before halftime provided the 5-goal differential heading into the break.
In an historic moment, Madison Haugen continued her torrid scoring pace, and found the back of the net with 1:58 left in the game to record her 5th hat-trick of the season.
More importantly, her 21st goal broke the Lambert girls’ individual record for most goals scored in a season - a record that she previously shared with Heather Lacy at 20.
Maddie also chipped in two assists to compliment her scoring touch.
As has become the Lambert girls’ staple this season, 7 different players notched a goal and/or assist to pad the offensive stats.
Not to be overlooked is the fact that the Lambert defense once again put the clamps on an opposing attack; limiting the Eagles to only 2 shots on goal.
The win improves the Lambert girls’ record to 13-0 on the season, and 8-0 in Region play.
The Longhorns will get a much-needed break before hitting the pitch again against top-10 North Gwinnett on April 9th.
