1-1 for Boy's at Jekyll Island Tournament of Champions

A challenging, yet rewarding weekend at the Jekyll Island Tournament of Champions for Lambert Boys Varsity.

The team bused to Brunswick, GA, setting up camp at the Embassy Suites Hotel.

Friday night, they played their first of two tournament matches, against the Hillgrove Hawks from Powder Springs (Cobb Co.).  Hillgrove grabbed a quick 2-0 lead in the early part of the first half on a header off a set piece, followed by an unassisted tally.  But, Lambert rallied before the end of the first half on a goal by Hayden Fontana.  The ‘Horns put heavy pressure on the Hillgrove defense and keeper in the second half, but couldn’t come up with the equalizer.   FINAL: HILLGROVE 2,  LAMBERT 1.

Saturday afternoon, the Longhorns looked for a better result in their second tournament match against St Pius X  of Chamblee (Dekalb Co).  St. Pius held a 1-0 lead at the end of the first half on a header.   Then, in the second half, the Longhorns roared to life...Trey Hines tied the game, beating the keeper on a hard shot, early in the half.   That opened the floodgates, with Tyler Nadiak, Noah Sivinski and Trey Hines, again, scoring in rapid order to cement a de

The boys now have a 6-2-1 record and next play on Fri., March 16 at Forsyth Central.
