Longhorns Outlast Weather and Milton on Tuesday Night

March 8, 2017

On a night that delivered a downpour early and a steady drizzle throughout, both Lambert squads embraced the conditions and put together fine performances to earn key region victories on the road at Milton.

In the girls match, Brooke Schuyler and Anna Sullivan scored for the Lady Longhorns, and the defense stood tall to secure the 2-0 victory. Jordyn Ebert earned her fourth shutout of the season, and her second in a row in the region.

In the nightcap, an even battle in the first half was broken when Zane Ziegler scored a goal to put the Longhorns up 1-0. A pair of good saves by Avery Dekshenieks, combined with great team defense kept the score 1-0 into the break. In the second half, the boys unleashed the offense, getting goals from Eoin Griffiths, Logan Racine and John Conahan to make the final tally 4-0. Christian Girard was named Man of the Match for his solid play on defense.

Next up for the Longhorns is a home match on Friday against Central. Girls play at 6 and the Boys play at 8.  Don't forget to tell your friends and neighbors that Friday night is Youth Night at Lambert.  Youths (middle school and younger) get in free by wearing their club soccer jersey, Lambert Soccer swag, or a Lambert 3v3 t-shirt. Hook 'em, Horns!
