In 2017, Coach Scott Luthart helped to lead the Lady Longhorns into unprecedented heights of success as they won their first-ever State Championship; claiming the AAAAAAA title with a thrilling 2-1 overtime win over the Grayson Lady Rams. Coach Luthart continues to develop players within the Lambert Longhorn Soccer program and continues to strive toward a goal of setting the standard for soccer in this area by building a program that is among the most competitive and respected in the state. Coach Luthart is part of the inaugural staff that opened Lambert High School in the Fall of 2009.
Coach Luthart earned his BS in Secondary Education from Buffalo State College and completed his MS in Science Education and AP Physics endorsement at the University of Georgia. He is certified by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) with an Advanced National Diploma.
High School Coaching Experience
During 8 seasons as a program, Coach Luthart and the Lady Longhorns have seen significant and consistent success; compiling an overall record of 126-30-4 during that time. In that short 8-year span, the Lady Longhorns have won 4 Region Championships and have earned State playoff berths in all 8 seasons; including 2 Sweet Sixteen berths, one AAAA Final Four (2011), a AAAAAA State Runner-Up (2015), and a AAAAAAA State Championship (2017).
Prior to opening Lambert High School, Coach Luthart started the boys’ program at Grayson High School in Loganville, GA (2001-2008). He was able to lead his teams to 4 playoff appearances in 8 years, including two AAAAA playoff berths during their 4 years at the highest classification and 2 Region 8AAA Championships. In 2004, the 4th year of the program’s existence, Coach Luthart led his boys to the AAA State Championship, the first men’s championship for the athletic program at Grayson High School.
While starting his coaching career at Meadowcreek High School (1994-2000), he led the Mustangs to 2 playoff berths in 4 years.
During his 24-year coaching career, Coach Luthart has earned numerous awards including - Gwinnett County Coach of the Year (1998 and 2004), Gwinnett Daily Post Coach of the Year (2004), AJC Coach of the Year (2004), NSCAA State Coach of the Year for A-AAAA Schools (2004), Grayson’s “Jack Britt Outstanding Coaches’” Award (2006), Forsyth County Coach of the Year (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2017), Region 6AAAAAA Coach of the Year (2014), Region 5AAAAAAA Coach of the Year (2017), Forsyth County News Coach of the Year (2017), NSCAA State Coach of the Year for AAAAAA Schools (2011), and NSCAA State Coach of the Year for AAAAAAA Schools (2017).
Club Coaching Experience
Scott is currently coaching the 04 girls Premier team at United Futbol Academy (UFA) in Cumming, GA.
Coach Luthart is happily married to his wife (Michele) and has two wonderful children – Alissa (22) and Andrew (18).
