For the second straight year, your Lambert varsity boys (21-1-0) are the champions of Georgia Class 7A soccer. Let that sink in for a moment....STATE... CHAMPIONS... AGAIN !!! This was a team that overcame all challenges.. This was a team that was not to be denied. This was the team that defeated the #3-ranked Lakeside-DeKalb Vikings, a team that had lost only once ALL SEASON. LAMBERT 2, LAKESIDE 1....YES!!! After a scoreless first half, the teams battled to a 0-0 stalemate through most of the second half. That is, until Tyler Nadiak put the 'Horns up 1-0 on a rebound shot with only nine minutes to play. Lakeside responded quickly, tying the match, 1-1, on a shot off a goalmouth s

Salute to the Lady Longhorns!

They came within an eyelash of perfection. But, the 2-1 loss on penalties Saturday to North Gwinnett in the state championship isn’t what we will remember about this remarkable group of young women. Not by a longshot! For most of five months, they stood atop the Georgia 7A soccer world. And, for good reason! This team outscored its opponents by a remarkable 108- 4 . They racked up 19 shutouts. And, they won 22 games in a row. It’s a fair argument, that the best team DIDN’T win on Saturday….and if the teams played again, the result might very well be different. The Lambert Lady Longhorns were (and are) a group of powerful, determined, strong-willed and, most of all, hardw

Lambert boys headed back to the finals!

Memorable...shocking...heart-stopping...exhiliarating.. And, all that doesn't even come close to describing Lambert (20-1-0) boys varsity's 2-1 penalty-kicks victory Tuesday over the Meadowcreek Mustangs (12-9-1) in their semifinal match of the Georgia 7A championships. With the win, the defending state champions move on to the final match against Lakeside-Dekalb, and a chance to defend their crown. The Lambert fan section of biggest home crowd of the season at the Horn was shocked into silence when the slick, speedy Mustangs scored the first goal, just under two minutes into the match. Forced to battle from behind for only the third time this season, the Longhorns grew into the task and

Over the long and hotly contested Georgia Class 7A soccer season, the Lambert Longhorns and the Hillgrove Hawks have stared warily at each other across the north suburban divide. But until Wednesday night, they hadn’t played each other, hadn’t settled which team was best. Wednesday night, Lambert (19-1-0) boys varsity settled it…decisively…rocking the Hawks, 5-0, in the state quarterfinals before a large and loud crowd at the Horn.
