Lambert takes down rival South Forsyth

Happy Birthday, Yeonsung Lee! The Lambert sophomore and his teammates celebrated the occasion in a big way Tuesday. They overcame arch-rivals South Forsyth, 2-0, at War Eagle stadium. Lee scored the opening goal of the game with only 28 minutes remaining, shooting through a crowd of players to find the back of the net. It broke up a hard-fought scoreless draw and may have broken the War Eagles’ collective spirit as well. This was the first time the two teams had met since last May’s epic state championship match won by Lambert, 3-2. Each team had scoring chances in the first half, but neither converted. It also featured some tough physical play, typical of any Lambert-South Forsyth ma

Lambert varsity boys roll past North Forsyth, 5-0

Give that young man a hat (trick)! Lambert senior striker Hayden Fontana scored three goals in 25 minutes Friday as the ‘Horns blasted North Forsyth, 5-0. Fontana opened the scoring in the 16th minute of the first half, slipping past his defender for a low, accurate shot from 10yards out. Senior teammate Thomas Powers dented the net just minutes later, taking a cross on the left, then firing a shot past the keeper to expand the Lambert lead to 2-0. Fontana scored again almost immediately afterwards, then tallied once more before the end of the half with a laser shot from distance for a 4-0 Lambert lead. That was more than enough for the Lambert defense and two goalkeepers, who completely

Horns pitch another shutout, move to 2-0

LAMBERT 3, ST. PIUS 0 Lambert boys varsity overcame the opponents and the elements Friday as the Longhorns (2-0) beat the St.Pius Golden Lions (1-2-1) at the ‘Horn. The contest was played in a steady drizzle that soaked players and fans for most the game. The shutout was Lambert boys’ 201st in program history. The Lambert offense controlled the ball for much of the first half, and struck for three goals. Sophomore forward Tyler Nadiak opened the scoring midway through the half, converting a pretty cross from Kyler Darsey. Nadiak sco

Horns Top Lovett In Season Opener

Two goals in the final ten minutes propelled Lambert Boys Varsity Soccer (1-0) to a 2-0 win over The Lovett School (0-1) on Friday at the Horn. The game was the season-opener for both teams. Lambert’s slick passing and ball possession offense led to several corner kicks and potential scoring chances in the first half, but the teams were scoreless after 40 minutes. In the second half, Lambert continued to push its advantage, but, with only 10 minutes remaining, the ‘Horns still found themselves locked in a scoreless tie. Finally, with time winding down, Campbell Wilson forced his way through the defense and slid the ball past the Lovett keeper for a 1-0 Lambert lead with only seven minutes t
