They did it! Our Lambert Longhorns won state 7-A Championship Saturday night with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over arch-rivals South Forsyth. Hundreds of Longhorn fans made the long trek to McEachern HS in West Cobb to loudly cheer on the champs in an epic, “knockdown-drag out” clash involving Forsyth County’s top two soccer programs. And, it was a game that did not disappoint. The ‘Horns came out attacking after the opening whistle and, within the first ten minutes, Logan Racine headed in a beautiful cross from Hayden Fontana for a 1-0 Lambert lead. But, to their credit, South Forsyth pushed back and, with fewer than ten minutes left in the half scored on a long, looping shot from distance

The Longhorns fought off a stiff challenge from Campbell HS of Cobb County on Tuesday, turning a 1-0 nailbiter at half-time into a convincing 5-0 victory at the final whistle. The always sturdy ‘Horn defense held off a Bronco offensive thrust early in the second half, helped by Cole Scott’s cool work in the goal. Then, with about 15 minutes left in the game, the Brookwood goalie made a big save on a wicked shot by Lambert defender Jay Patte
