Boys Take Out Central Gwinnett in Playoffs

Hosting Central Gwinnett in the opening round of the GHSA playoffs, the Lambert Boys survived and advanced with a 2-1 victory on Friday night. With plenty of whistles and stoppages in play, the early part of the match was slow. But in the 16th minute, a poor pass by the Central Gwinnett defense was intercepted by Eoin Griffiths at the top of the box. With the goalkeeper charging out, Griffiths lofted a perfect chip over the keeper's head to put the Longhorns up 1-0. Central Gwinnett would even the score ten minutes later when their striker completed an Oscar-worthy flop in the box to earn a questionable penalty kick. Longhorns Advance After 4-0 Victory

Playing at home against Norcross on Thursday night in the opening round of the GHSA state playoffs, the Lady Longhorns came away with a 4-0 shutout. Madison Haugen opened up the scoring in the 3rd minute, heading home a cross from Katelyn Castelli to put the Longhorns up 1-0. In the 24th minute Haugen struck again to double the advantage at 2-0. Then just two minutes later, Sydney Hennessey got on the end of a great through ball from Anna Sullivan to extend the lead to 3-0 as the half came to a close. Lambert Soccer Celebrates Seniors

Senior Night is an annual tradition within the Lambert Soccer program. Held during the final regular season home match of the year, the seniors are honored and recognized for their contributions to the program. Conducted in between the Girls and Boys matches on Friday night, each senior, accompanied by their families, walks across the pitch, flanked by an honor guard of underclassmen. Lambert Boys Win Region Championship

The Longhorns came from behind on Monday night to secure the Region 5 AAAAAAA Championship with a 3-2 overtime victory over Milton. The match was a continuation of one that was rained out earlier in the season. Picking up where the match was suspended, Milton was up 1-0 with 17 minutes remaining in the first half. The Longhorns played well, winning the ball and creating chances. Just a couple of minutes before halftime, Zane Ziegler leveled the match at 1-1 with a heads-up play in front of the goal mouth. Friday night the Lady Longhorns traveled to Forsyth Central needing only a draw to secure the Region 5 AAAAAAA Championship. Leaving no doubt, Lambert scored six minutes into the match when Reagan Donnelly headed in a corner kick to go up 1-0. On the front foot now, Ellie Prybylski struck a bullet from 30 yards out in the 24th minute to double their lead. An own goal by Central off a corner sent the Longhorns into halftime with a 3-0 lead. On cruise control in the second half, Lambert maintained good possession and forced the tempo to keep their commanding lead. Undefeated Road Trip for the Longhorns

Lambert Soccer spent their Spring Break in Hilton Head, SC, enjoying a day at the beach before they played a challenging schedule of matches against local high school teams from South Carolina and Georgia. On Thursday, both teams played Hilton Head High School. The Girls came out 7-3 winners, and the Boys earned a 3-0 shutout, their ninth of the season. Friday, only the Boys had a match, this time against Islands High School from Glynn County, GA. After some back and forth, the Longhorns pulled away for a 5-2 win.
